We carry full insurance. Our company and our vehicles are fully insured for General liability, property damage, and injury (Worker’s Compensation). ALL our painters are fully insured.
We sure do! We come to see your project in person, we discuss your ideas, and then we write up a detailed proposal. We will set a second appointment with you so that we can properly present our proposal to you, and so you can ask questions, clarify anything that is not clear, and/or ask for changes.
That’s a common question we get. We usually have a fairly long list of projects on our production calendar that have already been scheduled or are in the cue to be scheduled soon. When we have a new customer who signs a proposal and provides their deposit check, that customer and their project goes next in line, at the end of the line, in our production calendar – to be scheduled. That is, customers get serviced in roughly the order they signed their proposals and provided deposit checks. So, it is likely, especially during our busy season, that a customer who signs a proposal will have to wait a while to get their project scheduled. Due to our reputation and quality of work we perform, we have many customers and we are very busy.
One of our Project Consultants likes to say, “Getting your project started is not like ordering pizza. There’s usually a waiting period.” I often encourage the customers to whom I speak, “There’s no pressure to sign, but the sooner you do, the sooner you will get on our production schedule since we service customers in the order they sign their proposals.” That said, there are, of course, sometimes special timing considerations we do take into account.
Once a project is contracted, there might be changes to the scope of work you may wish to add (“while you’re here, what would it cost to also paint this bedroom?”). Or, we may discover something in addition to the contracted work, such as rotted wood on an exterior. These are just two examples of Change Orders, changes to the contracted scope of work. This is such an important part of the project because some companies underbid jobs in order to get them, then start up-charging the customer for all sorts of things in order to make more money not bid for. This becomes a nightmare for the customer since the contractor is already working in the home. It’s hard to resist this unscrupulous tactic.
You’ll never experience that kind of pressure or dishonesty with our teams. We will discuss any needed changes with you and let you know the estimated price to make those changes. If you agree, you can sign a Change Order form and we will perform the work for the agreed price. If you do not want the change, we won’t do it and you won’t be charged for it. Everything is above board. No pressure. No money grab.

Prep work is the most important part of the project. This is where the most experienced painters can use their craftsmanship to make sure the paint that will later be applied will look fantastic as well as stand the longest test of time. We make sure all surfaces look great BEFORE a drop of paint is applied. Many quotes you will receive will not include prep work. Be careful to ask about this. Our quotes are often more expensive than others because of the detailed prep work we do.

This means that in case of failure that is traceable to a workmanship or product defect, we come back and fix it at no cost to you (labor and materials are covered).
We paint any surface that can be painted with proper techniques, primers, and finish paints. Sherwin Williams makes a vinyl safe formula for painting vinyl. We can paint bricks, drywall, wood, Hardie siding and trim, tongue and groove material, even fiberglass, PVC, and metal. We no longer treat decks due to the unacceptable rate at which deck stains fail here in our Kentucky weather.
We definitely do. We’ve painted many. Many painters paint bricks, but not all do it properly. If brick is painted without the proper masonry primer, it may look great for a year or two, but in time the paint will begin to crackle and peel. Brick homes in Kentucky get very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. The extreme changes in temperature, as well as moisture trying to escape from behind and within the bricks, cause the paint to improperly bond to the bricks and to eventually peel. Once this situation begins, there is no way to slow or prevent it. The only way to treat this mistake is to strip all that paint off and start over. A very costly mistake.
If you are considering painting your bricks yourself, or hiring a professional to do so, make sure you or they use a proper masonry primer which will bond to the bricks in the conditions mentioned above. Then, you are not really painting your exterior bricks, per se, you are painting the primer. This is how painted bricks will last a long time looking great.
One of the advantages of painting bricks over using mineral paints is that the acrylic paint comes in various finishes such as satin and semi-gloss to give a nice shine to the bricks. Mineral paints only come in a flat finish.
Yes, we are Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified for lead-paint removal and disposal. And we have the tools and experience we need to test older homes for the presence of lead paint. EPA regulations prohibit the dry scraping or sanding of existing lead-based paint, typically present in homes built before 1978. If lead-based paint dust goes airborne, it can be neurologically damaging or life-threatening. Therefore, when lead-based paint is present, we may not dry scrape or sand any painted surfaces.
Existing paintable surfaces will be wet-scraped but never sanded. Lead chips will be collected and properly disposed of. The result is that newly painted surfaces will not have the edges of old paint feathered to make them smooth. Paint will be tight so that nothing is peeling before new paint is applied, but the surfaces being painted will appear to be uneven and may have an “alligator skin” look to them. Customers will be instructed so that they understand and accept these limitations in working with existing lead-based paint.

Paint is designed for surfaces such as drywall, plaster, and wood on the interior or exterior of the home. There are specialty paints for certain surfaces such as metal, fiberglass, PVC, or clad/vinyl windows, etc. Sherwin Williams makes a series of special Vinyl Safe colors and formulas for painting vinyl siding, soffits, etc. We also use DTM products for painting metal handrails, aluminum siding, etc. This is a self-priming Direct to Metal paint.
Stains are used for wood surfaces such as decks, pergolas, and solid wood doors when the customer wants to see the wood and grain. Stains soak into the wood whereas paint covers it up. Beware, paint is not designed to be walked on where stain is. Some contractors and customers paint decks. This is a bad idea since paint is not designed for this application. If you want the look of paint on your concrete or wood walkway, patio, or deck, we use another specialty product called Porch & Floor Enamel, or Tread Plex.

Long ago, we stopped guaranteeing our deck work (our normal 5-year guarantee does not apply to decks as it does to all our other work) due to the high and unacceptable failure rate of deck stains here in our Kentucky weather. More recently, we have stopped treated decks altogether for the same reason. We just can’t manage the quality control for decks the way we can for all our other services. Yes we do. Our sales consultant travels to every appointment with the full “color deck ” so the client can freely and easily choose the best color for their project while he is on site. However color selection is very personal and we try not to influence the client too much. When color selection is very important for the client and not something that can be done on the Project Consultants first visit, we offer the option to do an IN-STORE selection with one of the Color Consultants at Sherwin Williams. If interested, ask your Project Consultant about this.

Limewash is a paint made with just two ingredients: lime and water. It’s thinner than paint, so instead of sitting on top the brick’s surface like paint does, it penetrates into the brick.
Though the products are quite similar in mineral content, they are designed to create different effects and appearances. Limewash is a one-coat application which is intended to be partially washed off once the limewash is applied and beings to dry. The purpose of this is to expose some of the natural brick to create a weathered or antiquing appearance.
Masonry Paint is a two-coat application that is intended for full coverage – nothing is washed off. My Three Sons Painting & Remodeling is an accredited specialist for the application of the limewash and masonry paint products produced by a company called Romabio. Limewash is available in white, which is the natural hue of limestone, or in shades of white, light gray, or light taupe, which are created by adding natural pigments. Limewash can be applied to brick indoors (such as a fireplace) and outdoors. Masonry Paint can be tinted to many colors of your choice.
We spray cabinetry, many exterior portions of projects (such as siding, soffits, fascia board, gutters, etc.), and indoors when we do new construction work. Otherwise, we use high-quality brushes and roller covers to paint areas that are not sprayed, or inside your home where spraying would not be reasonable. In these cases, we brush woodwork trim and brush (cut in) and roll walls and ceilings.
Definitely yes. During the Winter season (December through March) is typically the ideal time to get your interior project done with the lowest possible price. We offer discounts for interior work in the winter! However, because of this, spots are limited. Call us early as we often book two to three months in advance. Call to reserve winter reduced rates.

We have completed many bathroom and kitchen renovations, we install tile, hardwood floors, luxury vinyl floors, we remove ceiling texture, build additions, screened porches, and decks. The crew assigned to your project will be decided based on our schedule and yours, and the requirements of your project. We utilize a combination of employees and sub contractors whom we have vetted and who work consistently for us (many of whom have done so for years). We do not just hire anyone to do our work. During the peak summer and fall seasons, we just cannot service all of our customers with our employee base. We have too much work. So, we do utilize some carefully selected sub contractors, some of whom are previous employees of ours who have now opened their own business. Whoever we assign to your project, we stand 100% behind what our trusted teams do.
Once your proposal is signed, the project transfers into the capable hands of our Project Manager and then your Team Leader. The Project consultant remains at your call as needed but your Team Leader and Project Manager will become your primary points of contact and communication.
We do different types of training on a regular basis. Hands on technical training individual and group to keep their skills in check with new techniques, new products and new methodologies. All our key vendors help us quarterly with that so we stay updated with the latest and newest . We also regularly do safety training to make sure we keep intact our ZERO accident record.
